PROTOSTAR JET · a baby star's first shout
A newborn star, just thousands of years old, announcing itself with two narrow jets of gas fired in opposite directions, which slam glowing shock fronts into the surrounding cloud. James Webb photographed this one in exquisite detail. Our own Sun very likely went through the same loud phase; HH 211 is a baby picture from the family album of all stars.
