ASTEROID · the comet impersonator
An object that has refused categories for a century: discovered as an asteroid, but riding a stretched, tilted orbit that swings from Mars' neighborhood out to Saturn's, exactly like a comet. Hidalgo is probably a burned out comet nucleus that lost its ices long ago, a ghost that kept the orbit but lost the tail.
