VISITED BY the EPOXI mission, 2010SHAPE a peanut

A small comet with far too much energy. When the EPOXI spacecraft flew past, it saw a peanut shaped nucleus spraying jets of carbon dioxide that carried fluffy snowballs along, some as big as basketballs, swirling around the comet like a slow blizzard. For its size, Hartley 2 is one of the most active comets ever visited.
