The opposite window: through the constellation Sculptor, we look straight down out of the galactic disk. Nearby beyond it lies the Sculptor group of galaxies, among our closest galactic neighbors. Up and down mean nothing in space, but for mapping the universe, these two clear sightlines out of our dusty disk mean everything.
