Seven bright stars forming a pot with a long handle, visible all year from northern latitudes and the most useful signpost in the sky: extend the front edge of the pot five times and you land on Polaris, the North Star. The handle's middle star is the famous double Mizar and Alcor. Germans see a wagon, Americans a dipper, Britons a plough; the stars do not mind.
