Hyades
STAR CLUSTER · the Bull's face
The closest open star cluster to Earth, forming the V shaped face of Taurus the Bull. The bright orange star Aldebaran looks like its leader but is actually a foreground photobomber at less than half the distance. Because the Hyades are so close, astronomers used them as the first rung on the ladder of cosmic distance measurement.
