TAKEN 1995SHOWS about 3,000 galaxies in a tiny dot of sky

In 1995 astronomers pointed Hubble at a patch of sky deliberately chosen because it seemed empty, the size of a sand grain held at arm's length, and let it stare for ten days. The picture came back crowded with about 3,000 galaxies. Every empty looking spot in the sky is like this. It may be the most humbling photograph ever taken.
