FEAT crossing the Pacific without instruments

Polynesian navigators settled the largest ocean on Earth using a compass that existed only in their heads: a memorized ring of horizon points where specific stars rise and set, combined with reading swells, winds and birds. No charts, no instruments, thousands of kilometers of open water. The art nearly vanished, then the voyaging canoe Hokulea sailed Hawaii to Tahiti in 1976 the traditional way, and a renaissance began.
