The year's first meteor shower is also its trickiest: the Quadrantids can rival the best showers, but their sharp peak lasts only a few hours, so you have to be outside at exactly the right moment, in January cold. They are named after a constellation that no longer officially exists, the Mural Quadrant, a ghost name in the sky.
