NGC 2419, the Intergalactic Wanderer
GLOBULAR CLUSTER · the far traveler
A globular cluster so far out that it earned the nickname Intergalactic Wanderer; it floats farther from the galactic center than the Magellanic Clouds. It is not actually escaping, just riding an enormous slow orbit around the Milky Way. From a planet inside it, our entire galaxy would hang in the sky like a glowing pinwheel.
