The Sun crosses the Lion in late summer, passing close to Regulus, the little king, one of the few bright stars sitting almost exactly on the ecliptic. That is why the Moon and planets regularly visit Regulus, and occasionally cover it entirely. The Lion's stars belong to spring evenings; the Sun borrows them in August.
