
A grand, slightly flattened ball of about 150,000 ancient stars, and probably loot: its motion and chemistry tie it to the Gaia-Enceladus galaxy, which the young Milky Way swallowed billions of years ago. Many of our globulars are war trophies from such mergers, still carrying the passports of their lost homelands.
