METEOR SHOWER · the December powerhouse
The strongest meteor shower of the year, with slow, bright, often colorful meteors, well worth the cold December night. The Geminids are odd: their parent is not a comet but the asteroid Phaethon, a rocky body that somehow sheds a dust trail anyway. Astronomers are still arguing about how it manages that.
