In the summer of 2020, this comet appeared as a gift for everyone stuck at home: the brightest northern comet since Hale-Bopp. Early risers and night owls found it with its soft golden split tail above the horizon, easy to catch with bare eyes. Discovered by the NEOWISE space telescope only months before, it reminded the world how sudden and generous the sky can be.
