GALAXY CLUSTERS · dark matter caught in the act
Two clusters of galaxies that smashed through each other, and in the wreckage, dark matter showed its hand. The hot gas of both clusters collided and got stuck in the middle, but the mass, measured by how it bends light, sailed ahead with the galaxies, unbothered. Something invisible and collisionless carries most of the weight there. That something is dark matter.
