A small, dark rubble pile asteroid that turned out to be full of surprises. When the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft tapped its surface to grab a sample, the ground splashed like a ball pit, nearly swallowing the probe. The capsule landed in the Utah desert in 2023, carrying pristine dust that contains water bearing minerals and carbon, the ingredients of life's chemistry.
