Something enormous must have knocked Uranus over long ago, so its poles take turns pointing at the Sun, giving it 42 years of daylight followed by 42 years of night. Methane in its atmosphere swallows red light and gives Uranus its calm, pale turquoise color. It also has thin, dark rings.
