
From four long cracks at Enceladus' south pole, nicknamed the tiger stripes, fountains of ice grains and water vapor jet hundreds of kilometers into space. The spray comes straight from the buried ocean and contains salts and organic molecules, and Cassini flew through it for a direct taste. Some of it snows back down; the rest builds one of Saturn's rings. An ocean, sampling itself into space.
