The Sun is currently crossing a vast cavity of hot, thin gas, blown empty by a volley of supernova explosions millions of years ago. The bubble's walls are where the pushed together gas now forms new stars, nearly all the young star nurseries around us sit on its surface. We live inside an old explosion, watching its rim turn into cradles.
