
Three colossal towers of cool gas and dust inside the Eagle Nebula, immortalized by Hubble and photographed again in stunning detail by James Webb. Inside their dark fingertips, knots of gas are collapsing into brand new stars. The pillars look eternal, but the radiation of neighboring stars is slowly sculpting them away; we are seeing a moment in a very slow storm.
