In 2000, three white storms that had churned side by side for sixty years merged into one, and a few years later the new storm blushed red, earning the nickname Red Spot Junior. Nobody fully understands what pigment turns Jovian storms red, so Oval BA is a live experiment: a second red spot, born on camera.
