To ancient Egypt, the stars of Orion were Sah, celestial form of Osiris, god of the afterlife and rebirth, striding eternally across the sky with brilliant Sopdet, our Sirius, following as Isis. Pyramid texts describe the pharaoh's soul ascending to join these stars. Whether the Giza pyramids deliberately mirror Orion's belt is debated among scholars, but Egypt's love for this constellation is carved in stone either way.
