Orion Nebula (M42)
NEBULA · a nursery of stars
A glowing cloud of gas and dust where thousands of new stars are being born right now. You can find it yourself: it is the faint fuzzy patch in the sword of the constellation Orion. Young, blazing hot stars in its center make the whole cloud shine. Our own Sun was probably born in a cloud just like this, about 4.6 billion years ago.
