A planet nearly as old as the universe itself. Methuselah formed about 12.7 billion years ago, when the cosmos was barely a billion years old, and today it circles an exotic pair: a pulsar and a white dwarf, deep inside an ancient star cluster. Its existence proves planets started forming almost as soon as there was anything to form them from.
