Mercury rotates exactly three times for every two trips around the Sun, a gravitational lock unique in the solar system. The consequences are surreal: a single solar day lasts two Mercury years, and near perihelion the Sun can stall in the sky, reverse direction briefly, then resume, in some spots even setting and rising again.
