The smallest planet and the closest one to the Sun. Mercury has almost no air, so heat escapes instantly: days reach 430 °C and nights drop to minus 180 °C. That is the biggest temperature swing on any planet. Its cratered face looks a lot like our Moon, and ice hides in craters at the poles where sunlight never reaches.
