A large Kuiper belt world spinning so fast that it has pulled itself into an elongated shape, an egg tumbling end over end every six hours. Its rapid spin is probably the souvenir of an ancient giant collision. Varuna is named after the Hindu god of the cosmic waters, fitting for a body in the solar system's frozen ocean of worlds.
