The major spiral arm just outside ours, home to landmarks like the Double Cluster and the Heart and Soul nebulae. Spiral arms are not fixed structures but traffic jams of stars and gas: material drifts in, slows, piles up and lights up with newborn stars, then moves on while the jam stays. The Perseus Arm is the next jam outward.
