Two long lines of stars side by side, crowned by the bright heads Castor and Pollux. In myth they were inseparable brothers, one mortal and one divine, who shared immortality so they would never part; the sky shows them still together. The constellation also hosts the radiant point of December's Geminid meteor shower, the year's strongest.
