GLOBULAR CLUSTER · the odd one out
Most globular clusters swarm around the Milky Way's center; M79 stands almost exactly on the opposite side of our sky, a wanderer in the wrong neighborhood. For years it was suspected to be an immigrant from the Canis Major dwarf galaxy. Either way, its odd address makes it a clue in the puzzle of how our galaxy assembled itself.
